AUSSIE BIRD COUNT ENDS.
Australia’s largest annual citizen scientist event has just ended and while official results have not been published, it is known that 6,167,355 birds were counted last week. The information provides a national snapshot of the birds around us. Birds Australia know that one in six birds in Australia is at risk and we know that some of those are in Tasmania.
Consider doing this count next year – there’s an app to make it easy. Here’s a diagram from the app. indicating the number of participants/observers from the north east.
WIND FARM @ TOMAHAWK NEWS.
An organisation called the Tomahawk Protection Society was set up explicitly to rally the community to have a united voice in negotiations with ACEN who are preparing for N.E.Wind, a project planned for Waterhouse and Rushy Lagoon.
The Tomahawk Protection Group were able to have a fair bit of input during the consultation process and are celebrating an announcement this week that the Waterhouse/Tomahawk component of the wind farm has now been withdrawn from the project.
